
Dr. Douglass Oeller is a licensed veterinarian with extensive FDA regulatory experience and a solid background in clinical practice.
During fourteen years (1993 to 2007) of service with the FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Oeller held a variety of positions in both the Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation and the Office of Surveillance and Compliance.
Dr. Oeller began his FDA career as a Veterinary Medical Officer. He was awarded “Master Reviewer” status by FDA peer review in 2001, was selected as a Team Leader in 2004, and served in that role until 2007.
Dr. Oeller’s FDA experience includes: product development planning, review of safety and efficacy protocols and data submissions, labeling issues, Freedom of Information summaries, BIMO inspections, promotion and advertising, and adverse event analysis.
A 1988 graduate of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Oeller was a full-time practitioner from 1988 to 1993. He has clinical experience in food-animal, equine, and small animal medicine. Dr. Oeller continued to practice small animal medicine on a part-time basis during his FDA career and now does a limited amount of relief work to keep current.
